“The result is outstanding. My life is even more amazing because of the fantastic home that we all created. Thanks to all of you for making this project a reality. People love it.” Rod Salmon, owner
Arguably Sydney’s finest 3 storey penthouse provides a spectacular space to live, entertain and prosper on top of the world with the glittering emerald city and its world-famous harbour at your feet.
A new lift, stairs, mezzanine, full interior and exterior refurbishment, with new services and systems have brought state of the art technology and lifestyle trends into this landmark address.
Boasting 270 degree views from the Blue Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, the Skyhouse residence embraces its spectacular vista over Sydney harbour and beyond in an urban oasis that is as much the ultimate entertainer as it as a calm home to live in once all guests retire.
Our client had lived in the penthouse apartment for many years before carefully curating the ultimate wish-list for the reimagined home. Top of the list: maximise space and optimise circulation with a 3 storey lift & stair core. The new central sculptural stairs simplified the previously series of stairways into a singular delightful ascension through the levels whilst freeing up floor space. Seamless service, convenience and flow with the commercial-grade lift which whizzes between the floors at 1m/s.
The central lounge below the enormous 6.5m x 1.8m LED screen provides instant wow as the first feature seen on arrival. A second lounge area complete with baby grand piano standing majestic in a two-storey height greets the view to the Mountains. A discrete powder room and entry joinery piece provides for guests coats as well as the magic spot to place keys.
The simplified palette of warm timbers, crisp white and hard-wearing neutral tiles allows the view to speak from every room. Accents of laser-sculptured marble and the infinity mirrored Powder room imbue experience of the spaces from elegance to surprise.
Contrasting finishes and levels of detail between spaces enhances the journey. Becoming lighter and more refined as you move up levels, the experience is from dark to light, earth to sky, protected to free. From the rich and dark palette on the lower entertaining level, through the chiaroscuro mix of light and dark on the mid bedroom level to the bright airy release on the rooftop, the result is a variety of experiences under a common iconic mid century aesthetic in selected neutrals of timber, stone and fabric.
The Master bedroom suite boasts a day spa complete with steam room, inset spa pool, massage table, dresser and lounge space. There’s no reason to leave really, save to work out in the Gym mezzanine to work up a sweat, grab a drink from the hidden fridge or dash a few emails of from the office space overlooking the piano lounge before the next meal is ready.
The second bedroom’s bathing space overlooks the Harbour bridge where one literally can soak up the view.
Every tour needs a finale. The Superyacht-inspired rooftop champagne bar expresses the sailboats dashing in the harbourt below in a space with the flexibility and ingenuity of a premium yacht. The sweeping dining banquette cleverly converts to a sumptuous day bed as the gaze inevitably moves to the 270 degree views from harbour to ocean over the bow of the timber roof deck and spa pool.
Stepping out on to the deck is becoming one with breathtaking vista. It’s to sail through the sky, over city and water, embracing the infinite space around in a space all of your own.
